Dorothy Cole 2009 Sep 12 to Sep 19
This is an
indepth program that included everything I need or puts me in touch
with those who can answer my questions about relocating to this area.
This is invaluable. I have all the resources I need to make my move to
this area. EVERYTHING. Is there anything that can be done to improve
the program: Nada. And I paid attention, asked questions and talked to
all these people they brought to my educational process. These are
invaluable contacts
If you can make the clock give us 38 hour
days that would accommodate our desire to cram in a little more. But we
fell like Trojans come bedtime because of our daily activities so we
probably couldn't have handled any more hours. The variety of food was
excellent. We ate all kinds of cuisine from many cultures, not just
Mexican which was fabulous.
The fact that you provided us with
preplanned printed menus just for the Focus diners was an excellent
idea. We didn't have to deal with the restaurant menu. It was all
spelled out for us in a very concise way. That was terrific. I also
liked how you incorporated entertainment on several nights when we ate
at certain places. We enjoyed a variety that we would never have gotten
on our own in the time we were there.
This group of people are
totally irreplaceable. I love and adore all of them. You have chosen
this staff so well I am amazed at how you did it. You are fortunate to
have such outstanding talent at your disposal. I commend you for
accomplishing such a task. All of these people are gems. They are what
make FOCUS ON MEXICO the great institution they are becoming. They are
beyond excellence with intuition not ordinarily seen. I thought of what
I needed and suddenly a staff member brought it to me.
The way
you have combined the classroom experience with the tours of the area
make this program the very best. Seeing things for yourself as they are
is worth the admission ticket. To be introduced to them by the FOCUS
group is the priceless.
Dorothy Whittaker 2009 Jul 11 to Jul 18
I truly
loved this program and would recommend it highly.
With regard to the
Focus staff, I don’t know how many times can I say great, wonderful,
gracious, enthusiastic, caring, friendly, knowledgeable, fun, great
sense of humor,!!!!!! And that goes for each one!
I truly
loved this program and would recommend it highly. There is no way I
could have gotten all this invaluable information on my own. Being part
of the group, and taken care of by such incredible staff made this one
of the best vacations if ever had!
Joni Allen, 2009 March 28 to April 4
"We highly recommend this
program."
The Focus Team spent years
gathering all of the information that was shared and have taken the
fear and guesswork out of retiring in Mexico. We highly recommend this
program. They have left no stone unturned as far as covering every
aspect of the legal and medical questions you might have as well as
covering all of the services available here; the real estate tour was
very interesting.
Very fun outings!! The Ballet Folklorico was
amazing! The thermal baths at Monte Coxala were magical, walking along
the Malecon and shopping at the Tianguis was priceless; you realize how
special the Mexican people are!! very loving and welcoming!
We
have been on several vacations and done a lot of fun things but this
was by far the most fun we have ever had! The Focus group did a great
job taking us to a variety of fabulous restaurants. Everything from a
wonderful burger to elegant dining and everything in between. We even
line danced! It was a first for us.
The entire staff is amazing!
They went above and beyond making us feel welcome and comfortable; they
treated us like family. They are all very professional and thorough as
well. Every one at the Focus staff will forever hold a special place in
our hearts. They are a large part of why we look forward to making this
our home.
There is no way short of spending a lot of years in
Mexico that you could gather all of the information the Focus Program
offers you. It is invaluable as a resource if you are considering
retiring in Mexico. If you are listening to all of the negative media
about Mexico and wondering why anyone would want to live here, Focus on
Mexico will erase your doubts and fears and educate you on the truth
about Mexico! It is magical!!
Mike and Lois Norman2009 July 11 to 18
Outstanding - a great value and experience. We learned much and had a great time.
Kalindi Trietley 2009 Jul 11 to Jul 18
The educational segments were truly helpful; they contained very high-yield information, which is just what I wanted. Hearing everything in person was a very different experience from simply reading documents too. When there was a lack of clarity, I could simply ask my question. The speakers seemed to know their topics well too. I particularly loved the tours of homes, and such wonderful realtors were available to help us afterwards on an individual basis. Lupita is a gem.
Sy Rosenthal and Judy Freidman, 2009 Aug 15 to Aug 22
I recommend this tour to anyone thinking about retiring to Mexico.
From the time we stepped off the plane and were greeted by Ana and Manuel, everything was taken care of. It was a real vacation ! Our first night we met our fellow Focus participants at the hotel for a cocktail party followed by a delicious dinner. The next day we were off to Guadalajara for a wonderful tour and lunch. A special highlight of the week was the Ballet Folklorico which we enjoyed immensely. Each morning we had guest speakers that talked about various aspects of living in Mexico. We were most interested in the health care and legal system in Mexico. My husband had first-hand experience about the dental care in Mexico when he had an excruciating toothache. Ana was able to get him an appt. the same day with a dentist in Ajijic. He needed an emergency root canal and was given an appt. the following day with an English-speaking oral surgeon in Guadalajara. I must say the dental equipment is equal to the dentists in the United States and in fact, the X-ray machine was even better since it was digital. Each afternoon and evening we were taken to different restaurants for meals and a tour of various areas. I liked having a personal real estate tour guide and I was able to find the area where I will be renting a house next summer. On our last evening at Ray and Marie's house we were all given a DVD of our week set to music. It is a great souvenir.
I recommend this tour to anyone thinking about retiring to Mexico. The Focus on Mexico team takes care of everything and all your questions and concerns are answered.
Jim and Ruth La Follette, 2009 Oct 31 to Nov 7
We
haven’t moved yet, but hopefully sometime in the new year we can say
that we are "on the move" and that would be to Mexico. Thanks everyone
on the Focus Team who made our Focus Seminar such a success. All the
information gathered has been helpful for when we actually do make the
move. Thank you Ray and Marie for the wonderful dinner and evening we
spent as a group in your home. Everyone on your team showed such love
and respect for each other and towards those in the group. It was
greatly appreciated to see throughout the entire week how they went
above and beyond our expectations.
We have been watching over
and over the DVD that Bill made. It's fun seeing our new friends in
such a beautiful part of the world.
Chuck and Mary Rublaitus, 2009 August 15 to 22
Each outing we went on was very informative and educational. We leave Mexico with a truly different feeling about the Mexican people, their culture and their family values. Karen and Kristina, you’re both so friendly, courteous and caring. You are more than willing to share your knowledge about each outing you were on with us. Kristina we love to watch you dance, you very good at it. Ana, you are a peach, your love for people really shines throughout. You are a truly compassionate and caring person. You go beyond what is expected of. You specially when you went out of your way to purchase the medicine to make first Chuck and then myself well. Your boyfriend may not realize it, but he is very lucky to have one very special person like you in his life (but Chuck is sad that he can’t take you home with him).
Manuel: you are a very special person, always there to get us after each outing and more than ready to lend a hand helping one out of the van, but always ready to teach us a little Spanish.
We read many testimonials on the Focus on Mexico Program, they said it all. The only thing we can say is it’s a must program for anyone thinking about retiring or moving to Mexico.
Ray, Marie, their staff and everyone else involved have put together a very educational and informative program.
Susan Strane, 2009 August 15 to 22
I would recommend it to anyone looking to live part time or full time in Chapala.
I came here for information and I received it. Many things I already knew, but many I didn’t. I also know that I have the best of the best resources with hand held walkthroughs if I need them. Thanks.
Fun! Fun! Fun! Ana is adorable and genuine. Such a gift to Focus. I loved Kristina so down to earth and Karen is a hoot. Bill is sweet and great with the pictures. And Ray and Marie have so much knowledge to share and are delightful.
Fabulous! I would recommend it to anyone looking to live part time or full time in Chapala. I got enormous amounts of information and more than that I have met unlimited resources and I hope lifetime friends including the other participants.
Dawn Cutting 2009 Sep 12 to Sep 19
I enjoyed it very much. I’m just sorry I have commitments at otherwise I would just stay.
Very good informative, however almost too much to absorb. The handouts are very helpful to help after we go home for more research. A very busy week.
The food was delicious and the restaurants were very very nice. It is so nice to see the variety at lakeside. The people were always very nice and friendly. Not just staff but people we would meet.
All the staff here was wonderful. They were very attentative to all. Very good about keeping us all on time to various things, what is not small task. We spent more time with Ana and loved her from the start. Kristina was wonderful as well. All the staff were great, we just got to know Ana and Kristina better. Marie and Ray really know their staff and I will definitely recommend your program.
I enjoyed it very much. I’m just sorry I have commitments at otherwise I would just stay. I will be back around the first part of February. It was wonderful to meet all of you and make new friends at lakeside and other participants. I feel I can live here on my own without any reservations. Thank you all so much.
I cannot say enough about you and your staff. From the time we were picked up at the airport by Ana and Tere until we were dropped back at the airport by Manuel; we were treated like family. I felt very welcomed from the start. Ana, Kristina, Manuel went out of their way to do whatever they could to make us comfortable and our stay enjoyable. They are all great and very caring people.
I plan to return to Lakeside and live at least part of the year. As a single woman I know I can do it because I feel I made some long lasting friendships while there. Thanks to the warm welcomes from all of the Focus Team. I can't wait to return.
Dinah Estrada, 2009 Sep 12 to Sep 19
I feel the program is an absolute must for ex-Pat wannabes
All of the staff was not only well-informed on their subject matter but also enthusiastic regarding the "do-ability" of a relocation. Manuel was not only a skilled driver but also a kind and courteous gentleman. Ana was like a mother hen guiding and protecting her chicks--plus she knows or is related to the whole town!!! Kristina offers the perspective not only of one who has relocated from the States but also of one who went BACK to the States and hated it. Not only would I but I have recommended the program to friends in Tennessee as well as New Jersey. I feel the program is an absolute must for expat wannabes as it is a 1-stop source of information as well as offering real friendship and support for those actually making the leap. Can't wait to see y'all again.
Waid and Barbara Woodruff, 2009 Sep 12 to Sep 19
...now we must do what is necessary to make our final home in the Lake Chapala area.
The educational segment combined with the handout material provided Barbara and me with all the information that we required. It is hard to imagine how one might improve on the information provided. Much more would amount to brain overload.
Every one was friendly and helpful; they made us feel welcomed and provided us with answers even if they had to do some research. Manuel impressed me with his driving skills, especially on the tight turns. Karen was quite informative and Bill was a great back up. We didn't really get the pleasure of Tere's company due to her ankle injury. Kristina complemented the group nicely with her warm and wonderful personality, including her husband's friendliness. The mariposa of the group was Ana Kabande. She is so loving and outgoing that she outdoes herself to ensure that everyone is happy and taken well care of. Maria and Ray have put together a great program, even though "Chupa" Ray plays better golf than me. I am getting my body repaired for a future match play. Perhaps in February as we are returning on February 7th - 14th to fulfill our FM3 requirements. Julie, the immigration specialist, has been wonderful and quite helpful in that regard. She should be considered a member of the Focus Team.
Hugs and kisses become the norm once one has spent a week with the Focus Team and the local people. The hook has been set thanks to the Focus Program, and now we must do what is necessary to make our final home in the Lake Chapala area. This will be quite a move since we will be leaving the beautiful southern Oregon coast for the highlands of near central Mexico.
Calvin Davison, 2009 Oct 3 to 10
Wouldn’t even want to consider moving without the Focus Program
Focus Staff: Excellent. I feel like I have friends here.Comments on Overall Program: Wouldn’t even want to consider moving without the Focus Program and the great people that sum it. I learned a lot and forgot a lot but have Focus to come back to for advice. Thank you.
Jim Vivian and Cheryl Kotila-Vivian 2009 Oct 3 to 10
What really happens is: a great deal of fun happens on the way to learning about a next life! And a new world!
All aspects of living in the Lake, country are covered in great depth. Hard to think of a topic that is not covered with insight, thoroughness and HUMOR!
Outings, Lakeside and Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque: These were extremely interesting and just wide-hanging enough to give us a great feeling of the best of Mexico. A diversity of interests and events are covered just right.
Food and Entertainment: Each evening outdid the night before! A huge variety of wonderful restaurants never seems to end. The music is to die for, and one magical evening seems to follow another.
Focus Staff: Incredibly knowledgeable. The work done on the details of this program is unbelievable. What really happens is: a great deal of fun happens on the way to learning about a next life! And a new world!
Linda Long 2009 Oct 31 to Nov 7
An absolute must for anyone considering easy retirement living.
The Focus on Mexico program well exceeded my expectations. The agenda was well balanced with FACTS, fun and food. An absolute must for anyone considering easy retirement living.
Gordon Colby 2009 Oct 31 to Nov 7
Very good, excellent, learned, experienced more than I expected. I now feel far more comfortable to return to Chapala/Mexico and to enjoy Mexico.
David Reitz, 2009 Nov 21 to Nov 28
The Focus staff was absolutely perfect! I could not ask for a more friendly, helpful, caring, and thoughtful staff.
Thought the program was well worth the cost. Very informative.
Rick and Sylvia Van Hoose, 2009 Dec 5 to Dec 12
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the Focus on Mexico tour.
Ana was exceptional. Kristina was very warm and sweet. Everyone treated us very well. We felt very spoiled.
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the Focus on Mexico tour. It's exactly what we needed in order to be able to make a better decision regarding our move to the Lake Chapala area. Now, we don't feel like we're making the move blindly; we have useful information and contacts, but more importantly, we have new friends.
Owen & Jackie Oliver, 2009 March 28 to April 4
"We can't believe how Focus
on Mexico enriched our lives."
Every
presentation was loaded with valuable information delivered by
impressive people. We know we can't retain everything covered, but we
understood with clarity the total concept of each presenter. We know
now that we have friends who have great connections, and through Focus
on Mexico we have the confidence to successfully be a part of the
Mexican community. We have made enduring friendships with every member
of Focus and also every member of our group. We can't believe how Focus
on Mexico enriched our lives. It was the best thing we have ever done
for ourselves. If you are interested in moving to Mexico, please sign
up for Focus on Mexico it is a definite must. I can't say enough good
about the program.
The best thing was the Ballet Folklorico, in
beautiful Teatro Degollado with the stories of Mexico told in song and
dance and in vivid colors. The brass statues and chairs added to the
experience. The depiction of Mexican history in the murals of Orozco,
passionately interpreted by Ernesto to show every viewpoint and provide
support to his philosophy “revolution is of the past, evolution is for
the future of mankind.” Maybe that was the best? Strolling through
Tlaquepaque after 30 courses at Casa Fuerte, the artistry of Sergio
Bustamante simply makes you feel glad to be alive…the furniture on
feet, the sculptures, the accessories all bring a smile to your face.
It is a creative, beautiful, happy place. Maybe that was the best? Then
there was the Artesanias market where the handmade clothing was so
beautiful, the Mexicans in the market were so patient and friendly, and
when I think of the market, I will always remember how Mark and Lell
came down to dinner later that night, such a beautiful couple in their
new attire. Fred, Mark and I enjoyed watching the Charros riding in
hitching their horses and stepping into the cantina for lunch. The
memories of a lifetime were created here so quickly. It sure would be
hard to beat that experience. The rejuvenation of my body after a few
hours in the hot mineral waters perched on a mountainside in heaven at
Monte Coxala. Swimming with fearless Bill under the pyramid Maybe that
was the best? Then there surging life blood of the Tianguis on
Wednesday when the energy invigorated everyone walking through the
stalls, smelling the wonderful foods, friendly haggling with the
vendors and getting some treasures to take home for special people in
our lives. Walking under the blossoms of the Jacarandas and the
Primavera, under the Mexican sun and feeling the warmth everywhere.
Maybe that was the best? I'm sorry I enjoyed the whole package and I
can't choose a favorite.
We have to go back to see the flight
of the pelicans coming to feed on the fish and for the final seasonal
assent when they take their place in single file to northern climes. I
thought it's too bad they don't come on Sunday, and then I saw the
Mexican families out together on Sunday and realized I wouldn't change
a thing. Give those birds and everyone else a family day. Now That’s
Mexico!!
Casa Fuerte gave us the best taste of Mexico as we
had it all I think it was thirty courses with a Tamarind Margarita. We
enjoyed La Tasca so much our group went back on our extra days and,
surprise!, we had an impromptu performance by two incredible fire
dancers. They were amazing! WOW!! Plus the food was superb. Mom's was
Route 66 diner meets Mexico and the food was delicious. Ajijic Tango is
one of the reasons we will return to Mexico. The ambiance and music and
food were all amazing. Tony's is lively fun and tasty; it is Mexican
comfort food. Los Telares…again an evening to remember and is sure to
be on our A list when friends come to visit us in Mexico. 60's in
Paradise is back home comfort food and music that rekindles the old
flame of romance. We returned there three times, and it wasn't to
redeem the coupons. We still have them. Another reason to come back.
And, Manix…well, I just hope that this group doesn't put you on the out
list because we thought the place was for maniacs and had way too much
fun. We hope they allow you to take future Focus groups there. We would
have eaten there again but they close early some evenings. Visiting
Alejandro's home for lunch, I felt like the returning prodigal son. We
had the best of everything and the hospitality was warm and inviting,
the food was exciting, the view was breathtaking, and the home was
perfect. Our group should make an offer on it and all live together in
Paradise. Number Four is the classy place that you would go to when you
really want to impress your visiting guests with how cosmopolitan we
are in Ajijic. Food and music and ambiance are unbeatable. One of my
favorite foods is Moussaka and I didn't think I'd have a snowball's
chance in you know where of finding it in Ajijic. When it turned up on
the menu I immediately ordered it. It was perfect. So was the Ouzo.
Drinking Ouzo is a slow savoring experience best shared with great
company, and with this group by now, all close friends. It was a
feeling of timeless village life down through the ages where everyone
knew everyone and we all shared each others dreams and aspirations. I
have to remember to put myself on rations for this place or I could
need to join AA. It was that good!! Warning if you don't like licorice
you won't like Ouzo, but the Corona is a good second choice. Breakfasts
and dinners at the Real de Chapala were all great; the staff at this
hotel did everything they could to pamper and please us. We're totally
spoiled. I love this hotel.
Dinner at Casa Bullock, we had
great views, great food, a piñata, (I think Ray & Bill had too much
fun with the ropes), wonderful food, the home was so inviting we had
part of the party on the terrace, part on the upper deck, and moved to
the dining room. We had three Focus alumni couples who gate-crashed;
they couldn't resist the chance to meet some future neighbors. It sure
did add to the fun. We graduated, we got a grateful stone as we moved
to the patio, and then we said our goodbyes. I'm a little teary right
now. But with a little luck Espero que pueda verle pronto. The perfect
end to a perfect program.
Kristina and Joel are a special couple
and so helpful and such a cute couple. She was the one who talked to me
on the phone and made me feel welcome. Tere met us at the airport and
we felt an immediate bond with her. We feel like she and her daughter
are family. Ana, what can I say, she took us into her home and her
lives and we love her and the boys. Such amazing good young men. She
also introduced us to the man in our life and he is so special. We may
have to go to the city to see her, because we can never lose touch.
Karen & Bill, they are soul mates both to each other and also to
us. They are two of the most amazing fun people we know. I can't wait
to see them again. Ray & Marie, may you never lose your minds! I
need you to keep In Focus for a long time. You both have a vision and
can create the possibility for all Focus Guests to attain their dreams.
You are dream makers and dream enablers. It is said you can choose your
friends and you can't choose your relatives but when you can claim
kinship with a friend, it is home and heart. We look forward to a
future that will include each of you forever. All I can say is Thank
You and that doesn't convey how entirely grateful I am to count all of
you as my friends.
I think that the best testimonial for the
FOCUS ON MEXICO program is that no matter where we went in the group or
on our own we met alumni from the program and everyone, those who had
lived in the area for years, those who had been there one year and even
the couple moving next month, over twenty couples, all had nothing to
say except FOCUS ON MEXICO is great and with their help we are living
our dream in Paradise. All of us had Found our Magic.
Fred & Joni Allen, 2009 March 28 to April 4
"There would be no way to be able to collect all the information by
ourselves"
The
information provided was so complete, you could tell that you spent
allot of time developing the program to insure every area was covered.
There would be no way to be able to collect all the information by
ourselves and to be able to have the links to the professionals that
know.
The outings were fantastic. We were able to attend the
Ballet Folklorico, which in itself was outstanding not to mention the
Orozco murals, and that was only the first day. You allowed us to see
the many attractions in the Lakeside area and share your slice of
paradise, while learning the information needed to make a informed
decision.
The program was everything we expected and more. We
never could have obtained all this information if we were there for 6
months. The program supplied the necessary information needed to make
an informed decision if Mexico is for you. With all the learning going
on, there was still time for fun, seeing the Lakeside area, shopping
and did I mention the great food. Thank you Focus for a great time
filled with a good mix of knowledge and relaxation.
Marybeth Kingsley, 2009 March 14 to March 21
"Focus on Mexico is the most phenominal program to anyone interested in
Mexico and the Lakeside area in particular."
The
topics covered all the questions I knew I would need answered if I was
going to relocate to Mexico. I had so many questions, and, voila, they
were answered. The verbal presentations were accompanied by written
materials so we could review and relive once we returned to our homes.
Healthcare was high on my list of information to glean and I was very
pleased with the comfort level I was at when all was said and done.
Healthcare in the lake area seems to be very cutting edge and
reasonably priced. Every question any member of our group posed was
either answered on the spot or the answer was researched and shared
later. Great! This is the type of information you really need even if
you are not going to move to Mexico full time. Thanks, Focus!
Focus on Mexico is the most phenominal program to anyone interested in
Mexico and the Lakeside area in particular. The daily meetings with the
Focus staff and local experts answered all the questions you may have
and all those questions you didn't even know you had. Every detail for
my visit was elaborately planned. Nothing was left to chance and I was
thoroughly entertained and informed almost every minute of my visit.
Marie and Ray and their hand-picked staff guide you through visas,
legalities, driving, groceries, real estate, healthcare, investing,
cost of living, and on and on and on. Oh, did I mention the perfect
recipe for the perfect margarita!!! Come down to Mexico and join a
Focus on Mexico group. You'll be glad to did.
Very, very, very informative. I could never have learned all this
info on my own. Outings were great, varied and really fun.The Focus
Staff was perfecto! My eight fellow participants were terrific as
well!!! I hope to see them again in Ajijic. Just knowing that all of
you are an available resource for future questions is a very big plus!
Gracias!
Richard and Del Smithers, 2009 March 14 to March 21
"It
would be extremely difficult to gather so much information
independently in a short time span."
A wonderful and loving experience. We really appreciated the
'extras' that Ana did to take care of us - especially the late night
pick-up at the airport and the very early (5.00am) departure from the
hotel. She made us feel like family! Kristina and Tere are both gems to
be treasured - Tere's spirituality and personality, and Kristina's
warmth and love really makes everyone feel like family. Karen and Bill
just fit right in to the team by making us all feel special and very
welcome. Manuel - a lovely patient man with such a warm personality and
heart. We loved everyone of the team - it is a dream team.
Ray and Marie have built a superb team and are wonderful hosts. It
would be extremely difficult to gather so much information
independently in a short time span. We feel that the education is
absolutely necessary for anyone considering a move to Lakeside. The
dining experiences give a very good idea of what is available. The
entire program is never tedious or boring while covering essential
elements. We enjoyed the 'fun' aspects of the program too. Our thanks
to Ray and Marie for their wonderful hospitality, for sharing a vast
amount of their knowledge with us and for the perfect team that they
have assembled to help anyone considering a move to 'paradise'.
Blessings and prosperity in abundance to each and everyone.
Stephen Sacks and Rita Ozersky, 2009 March 14 to March 21
"Each segment exceeded our expectations, and was fun to boot!"
The
educational segments were tremendously well put together and presented.
Each segment exceeded our expectations, and was fun to boot! A lot of
information - but just enough to digest. These Seminars were all '10 out of 10'! We could instantly see that the
FOCUS Team has diligently fine-tuned these Seminars. Each Seminar's
subject-expert Presenter was knowledgeable in their specific area. Each
segment also had a Q&A period that also answered our various
questions well - there were no 'hold-outs', eve
Sue Dresher, 2009 March 14 to March 21
I received "my money's worth"
The
educational portion of the program was very encompassing. Being an old
Economics Student I expecially appreciated Erika Torres, who obviously
"knew her stuff"!!!!
My sole purpose in attending the Focus on
Mexico Program, was to obtain information concerning living in Mexico
and the possibilities of using the Chapala Area as, either a part time
or full time retirement situation. You gave us a well defined variety
of information. At this point, I am still thinking. I wished we could
have seen more of the area, rather than just Ajijic Town. But I felt
overall I received "my money's worth"...and as I have said being the
Irish-Scotch woman I am I would tell you otherwise, if that were not a
true situation!!!
Gordon & Kathie Kiloh, February 21-28, 2009
"For anyone contemplating this as a possibility, this is a "have
to have" prerequisite."
The
choice of topics and speakers for the educational segment provided an
excellent overview of what one needs to know if considering a move to
Mexico. For anyone contemplating this as a possibility, this is a "have
to have" prerequisite. Individually, the speakers were extremely
knowledgeable and interesting, providing up-to-date information. The
Focus on Mexico trip provided an immeasurable amount of mandatory
information necessary to fulfill a smooth transition to living in
Mexico. We now have a wealth of resource material to refer to and many
contacts to assist us in our future plans. Whether considering a
complete move in the near future, a rental period for a short duration,
or an eventual move to Mexico, the Focus on Mexico week provided a
fabulous summary of all you need, and must, know. It answered all our
questions and gave us a fabulous taste of Chapala/Ajijic. We had a
wonderful time, met many terrific people and new friends while learning
to love the area and its people. What more could there be?!
Nancy Webb, February 21-28, 2009
There was lots of valuable information given. It sure made the cost of the program worthwhile!
Cheryl Whitfield, February 21-28, 2009
"The people there make you feel like you have come home."
The
educational segment was to the point and your guest speakers
well-informed on their topics. I especially felt the medical
information to be very reassuring in considering my move to Mexico.
Getting to interact with the townspeople was priceless. The people were
warm, congenial, and helpful in the markets, and the museum was
fascinating, not only in the fascinating art displayed, but also in the
moderator's knowledge of the history of the pieces! Maravilloso! I
especially got to know Kristina and Ana and they especially to me were
really helpful in giving advice and reassurance. As much as I loved the
area, I also felt like I met the nicest people on this fact-finding
trip. The people there make you feel like you have come home. I look
forward to visiting there again when the time is right for me.
Cindy Zay, February 21-28, 2009
I
was very impressed with the quality of the information. It seems as if
every facet was covered. Even though I am not quite ready to move there
yet, I now know who and where to go for any help I may need. The staff
was the best. They were so kind and helpful and Cheerful! I am so
grateful I took your advice about staying a few days after. It provided
a time for relaxation and going back to places to spend more time.
Anne & Rick Dlinn, 2009 February 21 to 28
Dear
Ray & Marie: Just to let you know, we had a wonderful time on the
Focus program. Everyone involved was great, and very professional. Plus
our group was full of really nice people. The whole experience was like
a nice long drink of cold water, drunk by someone very, very
thirsty. Thanks so much.

Thank you for enlarging our hearts, enlivening our souls
and encouraging our “imp” within.
Each
educational segment was very helpful. We had done a lot of reading
prior to coming but continued to learn many of the details and global
concepts to put it all together. We loved the ballet as well as all the
trips and exposures, especially the Wednesday market in Ajijic.
Special thanks for Karen’s arranging our meeting with Wendy. Food
and Entertainment: Terrific variety and individual choice. The music
was great! The Ballet Folklorico was amazing and was wonderful kick
off to our week. The Focus Staff amazing . Every one of the staff
conveyed enthusiasm, useful experience of their own, knowledge and
sensitivity to the needs of each other and all of the participants. We
love you all. Thank you for enlarging our hearts, enlivening our souls
and encouraging our “imp” within. This is a Wonderful program with
perfect balance of macro & micro, classroom and experimental
learning, exposure of every facet in planning, a move to Mexico. The
organization, communication and attention to detail was superb.

I could
not ask for a better situation with the Real Estate people that work
with you. Absolutely no pressure!
Ray,
I wanted to let you and Marie know what a wonderful time we had at the
Focus on Mexico program 2/21/2009. The material was fantastic and well
balanced with fun. I was greatly impressed with all of the people
working with you. Marie was great, Ana was a delight, Kristina was a
joy, Karen and Bill kept us laughing, Tere was very pleasant, I really
enjoyed Dr Garcia, Meme Thorpe, and Jorge Uriarte the Notario. I could
not ask for a better situation with the Real Estate people that work
with you. They were very courteous and I never once felt pressured. The
restaurants were amazing, the overall atmosphere was stimulating. You
told me that some magical things happen by the end of the week. You
were right. Ail and I fell in love with Mexico and Ajijic in
particular. The entire Chapala area was beautiful, with beautiful
people. This was the first vacation I have ever taken where I was not
anxious to get back home to Austin, TX. Ajijic really felt like home. I
will gladly recommend the program to anyone interested in a better,
friendlier and less complicated life. We are planning to get back down
there for a couple of months starting around July 15, 2009. I would be
pleased if we can get together when we are there. Thanks for
everything, If you ever want to have anyone call me about the program,
I will give the same glowing report.
I feel the outings to look
at real estate were most meaningful to get a feel for the true cost of
living in Mexico. The shopping around Guadalajara was my wife's
favorite. The restaurants we visited were magnificant.
Everyone was wonderful. Ana was a delight, Kristina was extremely
helpful, Tere was very pleasant. Ray and Marie were a joy to be around
and full of valuable knowledge. Bill and Karen were a hoot. Everyone
down to the bus drivers were fantastic. I cannot say enough good things
about the staff.
The educational portion of the program was
excellent. You addressed the questions about a move to Mexico and set
me at ease. I really liked the information about the Medical
establishment in Mexico. That answered a big question for me. The
program was well-balanced with information and fun trips. It was the
only trip away from home where I was not anxious to return home. I
could have stayed forever and hopefully that will be reality in the
near future.

Bob Ricketts, January 10 to 17, 2009
Anyone that has any idea of moving to Mexico must take your program.
Tony Kastens, January 10-17, 2009
Your
Focus staff was really the best part of all! The people involved with
the program is what made it all worthwhile!! When I set out do research
on Lake Chapala, I felt that I had struck gold when I discovered the
Focus on Mexico web site and their 8-day program offering. I really
wanted to find a source of accurate information in one spot that would
save me the grief of wasted time and bad information. I still had
reservations about getting what I needed from the program up until we
arrived in Lake Chapala. However, a few days into the program I
realized that I had made a wise choice. I was able to interactively
learn about all aspects of moving and living in Lake Chapala from a
very reliable and trusted source.....all in one spot (so to speak)! It
was a blessing!

great time.

"...it’s a must program for anyone thinking about retiring
or moving to Mexico."
Each outing we went on was very informative
and educational. We leave Mexico
with a truly different feeling about the Mexican people, their culture and
their family values. Karen and Kristina, you’re both so friendly, courteous and
caring. You are more than willing to
share your knowledge about each outing you were on with us. Kristina we love to watch you dance, you are very
good at it. Ana, you are a peach, your
love for people really shines throughout.
You are a truly compassionate and caring person. You go beyond what is expected of. You specially when you went out of your way
to purchase the medicine to make first Chuck and then myself well. Your boyfriend may not realize it, but he is
very lucky to have one very special person like you in his life (but Chuck is
sad that he can’t take you home with him).
Manuel:
you are a very special person, always there to get us after each outing
and more than ready to lend a hand helping one out of the van, but always ready
to teach us a little Spanish.
We read many testimonials on the Focus on
Mexico Program, they said it all. The
only thing we can say is it’s a must program for anyone thinking about retiring
or moving to Mexico.
Ray, Marie, their staff and everyone else
involved have put together a very educational and informative program.
Susan Strane, 2009 August 15 to 22
"I would recommend it to anyone looking to
live part time or full time in Chapala."
I came here for information and I received
it. Many things I already knew, but many
I didn’t. I also know that I have the
best of the best resources with hand held walk throughs if I need them. Thanks.
Fun! Fun!
Fun! Ana is adorable and
genuine. Such a gift to Focus. I loved Kristina so down to earth and Karen
is a hoot. Bill is sweet and great with
the pictures. And Ray and Marie have so
much knowledge to share and are delightful.
Fabulous! I would recommend it to anyone looking to
live part time or full time in Chapala. I got enormous amounts of information and
more than that I have met unlimited resources and I hope lifetime friends
including the other participants.

"Not only would I but I have recommended the program to
friends in Tennessee as well as New Jersey."
All of the staff was not only well-informed on their
subject matter but also enthusiastic regarding the "do-ability" of a
relocation.
Manuel was not only a skilled driver but also a kind and
courteous gentleman. Ana was like a mother hen guiding and protecting her
chicks--plus she knows or is related to the whole town!!! Kristina offers the perspective not only of one who has
relocated from the States but also of one who went BACK to the States and hated
it.
Not only would I but I have recommended the program to
friends in Tennessee as well as New Jersey.
I feel the program is an absolute must for ex-Pat wannabes
as it is a 1-stop source of information as well as offering real friendship and
support for those actually making the leap. Can't wait to see y'all
again.

"...now we must do what is necessary
to make our final home in the Lake
Chapala area."
The educational segment
combined with the handout material provided Barbara and me with all the
information that we required. It is hard to imagine how one might improve on
the information provided. Much more would amount to brain overload.
Every one was friendly and
helpful; they made us feel welcomed and provided us with answers even if they
had to do some research. Manuel impressed me with his driving skills,
especially on the tight turns. Karen was quite informative and Bill was a great
back up. We didn't really the pleasure of Tere's company due to her ankle
injury. Kristina complemented the group nicely with her warm and wonderful
personality, including her husband's friendliness. The mariposa of the group
was Ana Kabande. She is so loving and outgoing that she outdoes herself to
ensure that everyone is happy and taken well care of. Maria and Ray have put
together a great program, even though "Chupa" Ray plays better golf
than me. I am getting my body repaired for a future match play. Perhaps in
February as we are returning on February 7th - 14th to fulfill our FM3
requirements. Julie, the immigration specialist, has been wonderful and quite
helpful in that regard. She should be considered a member of the Focus Team.
Hugs and kisses become the norm
once one has spent a week with the Focus Team and the local people. The hook
has been set thanks to the Focus Program, and now we must do what is necessary
to make our final home in the Lake
Chapala area. This will
be quite a move since we will be leaving the beautiful southern Oregon coast for the highlands of near central Mexico.

Focus Staff: Excellent. I feel like I have
friends here
Comments on Overall Program: Wouldn’t even want to consider moving without the
Focus Program and the great people that sum it.
I learned a lot and forgot a lot but have Focus to come back to for
advice. Thank you.
Jim Vivian and Cheryl Kotila-Vivian 2009 Oct 3 to 10
All aspects of living in the Lake, country are covered in great depth. Hard to think of a topic that is not covered
with insight, thoroughness and HUMOR!
Outings, Lakeside and Guadalajara
and Tlaquepaque: These were extremely interesting and just wide-hanging enough to give us
a great feeling of the best of Mexico. A diversity of interests and events are
covered just right.
Food and Entertainment: Each evening outdid the night before!
A huge variety of wonderful restaurants never seems to end. The music is to die for, and one magical
evening seems to follow another.
Focus Staff: Incredibly knowledgeable. The
work done on the details of this program is unbelievable. What really happens is: a great deal of fun
happens on the way to learning about a next life! And a new world!

Hola All, We haven’t moved yet, but hopefully sometime in the new year
we can say that we are "on the move" and that would be to Mexico. Thanks everyone on the Focus Team who made
our Focus Seminar such a success. All
the information gathered has been helpful for when we actually do make the
move. Thank you Ray and Marie for the
wonderful dinner and evening we spent as a group in your home. Everyone on your team showed such love and
respect for each other and towards those in the group. It was greatly appreciated to see throughout
the entire week how they went above and beyond our expectations.
We have been watching over and over the DVD that Bill
made. It's fun seeing our new friends in
such a beautiful part of the world.
Thank you ALL.
Love,
Ruth & Jim La Follette

Very
good, excellent, learned, experienced more than I expected. I now feel far more comfortable to return to
Chapala/Mexico and to enjoy Mexico.
