Extending Your Experience After a Program

02 | 06 | 2008

Sunset at Lake ChapalaHave you often wondered why we suggest you extend your visit when you come on a Focus program? It's because you learn so much during the program, you're anxious to try some of the things we talk about and all of a sudden, it's time to go home. Time and again, participants tell us, "We wish we had listened to you!" "I wish I had taken the extension...I would love to make an appointment to see Barbara!" "I want to get a massage...a pedicure...a manicure...I want it all!"

Well, the only way to convince you is to give you testimonials from some of the participants who have "been there; done that!" Don't take our word for it!

To be honest, the reason I initially decided to stay over for a few days after the program was because my birthday was going to fall on the day of the return flight home. As it turned out it was a great decision. It was a quiet time to absorb the amazing variety of information we'd been given during the program. And it gave those of us who stayed an opportunity to take a day trip to the western end of the Lake. Relaxing and wandering about the Village by myself helped confirm the idea that I really would enjoy life there on my own. I'm returning for three months this summer and look forward to meeting up again with my "Focus on Mexico" friends.

Becky and I had read the web site and saw the recommendation to extend your stay. So we decided we would book one extra day just so we could be on our own. The Focus program is exemplary; however, you are usually accompanied by at least one of the great, attentive staff members, so it's not exactly like being out and about by yourselves. We are so very happy that we stayed over that extra day. It gave us a chance to experience the area on our own terms; interact with the Mexican people, talk to numerous expats and see how comfortable we felt on our own. It was a great experience! We felt right at home, due in large part to the preparation that the Focus program gave us. We are convinced that staying after the program is the way to go. It proved to us that we would be very comfortable living in the area. Our only regret, we didn't stay longer!

I would definitely recommend at least two extra days after the program has completed. By that point I was comfortable with the area and wanted to return to some of the sights previously visited with the group. The Village of Ajijic is so charming that it is truly hard to leave. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Kathie and I wanted more time just in case we wanted to explore the area, real estate, etc., more than the time allotted during the Seminar. We figured, 'Hey, it took time & money to get here, let us extend one or two more days to cover and learn more about any part of the issues covered during the seminar time." And we were glad we did!!!
