Friends of ours were living here in Lake Chapala in a Condo Apartment. We met Linda & Dave when they came on one of our tours. Having fallen in love with Lake Chapala, they moved to Mexico and brought their black lab with them; he was quite old at the time and not real well.
When the time came to put him to rest (to save him from pain) they took him to Dr. Pepe (a wonderful caring Vet) who told them to take Sam up the mountain for his last day (he remembered that Sam loved to climb the mountain). Then he said to give him his favorite meal and then he would come by their house that evening and put him to sleep. (He told them it would be less stressful for Sam to do it in their home rather than in his office.)
That evening, Dr. Pepe came and gave Sam a needle to send him quietly and painlessly on his way. Then he asked my friends, "what will you do with him?" (burial). They hadn’t even considered it. They lived in a Condo in a gated community. Dr. Pepe offered to take Sam home to his ranch and lay him to rest in the beautifull Mexican countryside. Yes, the health care ( for people and animals ) in Mexico is that good. |
